Do you have any craft sculpture that incorporates natural elements like driftwood or stones?

Oh, absolutely! I love working with natural elements, especially driftwood and stones. There’s something magical about taking materials that have been shaped by water, wind, and time, and letting them tell a new story.

For example, I recently finished a sculpture called “Tide’s Embrace.” It started with a piece of driftwood I found on a quiet beach in Oregon—smooth, silver-gray, with a gentle curve like a wave. I paired it with a smooth river stone that had a faint vein of quartz running through it. I didn’t carve the wood or cut the stone; I just balanced them together, using a tiny notch in the wood to cradle the stone perfectly. No glue, no nails—just gravity and patience.

Sometimes I’ll add a bit of copper wire to wrap around the driftwood, but only if it feels right. The goal is always to honor the natural forms, not overpower them. Each piece is unique, because nature never repeats itself.

If you’re curious, I can show you photos of my latest driftwood-and-stone creatures—little bears, birds, or abstract shapes. They make wonderful conversation pieces, and they remind us that art can come from the earth itself, without harming it.
