Do you offer any workshops where I could learn to make my own craft sculpture from start to finish?

Absolutely, we do! I’m thrilled you asked because this is one of my favorite parts of what we do here at the studio. Our craft sculpture workshop is designed to take you on a complete journey—from a simple idea in your head to a finished piece you can hold, display, or even gift. No prior experience is needed; just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little dusty.

The workshop typically runs over two consecutive weekends, giving you enough time to let each stage breathe. On the first day, we start with a relaxed introduction to materials and tools. I’ll show you a few different types of clay and armature wire, and then we’ll dive right into sketching and brainstorming your concept. I always encourage students to bring a photo, a drawing, or even just a feeling they want to capture. Once you have a vision, we’ll build a simple wire skeleton—the armature—that will support your sculpture as you work.

The second session is all about volume and form. We’ll add clay in layers, learning how to pinch, coil, and smooth to create texture and shape. I’ll walk around and offer one-on-one guidance, helping you refine details like facial features, animal fur, or abstract curves. If you make a mistake, don’t worry—it’s all part of the process, and I’ll show you how to easily reshape or fix areas without starting over.

By the third meeting, we focus on carving and detailing. This is where your sculpture really comes to life. We’ll use loop tools, ribbing tools, and even everyday objects like toothpicks and sponges to add fine lines, patterns, and finishing touches. After that, the piece needs to dry slowly and evenly—I’ll give you a checklist for how to handle that at home.

Finally, on the last day, we cover surface finishing: sanding, sealing, and painting. You’ll learn how to apply acrylic washes, dry-brush highlights, or even leave the natural clay color for a more organic look. When you leave, you’ll have a fully finished sculpture and a new set of skills to build more on your own.

Classes are kept small—usually no more than six students—so everyone gets attention. All materials, tools, and firing (if using ceramic clay) are included. If you’re interested, just let me know your preferred dates, and I’ll send you a full schedule with pricing. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like watching someone light up when they see their own creation for the first time. I hope you’ll join us
