What is the story behind the inspiration for this abstract craft sculpture?
When I first held a piece of raw clay in my hands, I didn’t plan a shape. I just felt the weight, the cool texture, and the quiet potential. That is how the story of this abstract craft sculpture began.
The inspiration came during a morning walk by the coast. I watched how wind carved the sandstone cliffs, how water smoothed pebbles into ovals, and how driftwood twisted into unexpected silhouettes. Nature doesn’t draw straight lines—it flows, erodes, and reshapes itself without intention. That freedom struck me. I wanted to capture that same organic energy in a static form.
Back in my studio, I started molding clay without a sketch. My fingers followed a rhythm—pulling, pressing, smoothing. The sculpture slowly became a dance between tension and release. One side curves like a wave caught mid-break; the other resembles a petal folding inward. There’s no right or wrong angle, because meaning shifts with light and perspective.
But the real story lies in emotion. At the time, I was navigating a personal transition—letting go of old habits and welcoming uncertainty. The hollow center of the sculpture represents space for growth. The uneven surface reflects the beauty of imperfection. Every dent and ridge holds a memory of pressure and patience.
I named it “Breath of Change.” Because art, like life, doesn’t need to explain itself. It just needs to be felt. And when someone stops in front of this sculpture, tilting their head, tracing its contours with their eyes—I know the story has already been told.
