What’s your personal favorite craft sculpture in your collection right now?
Oh, that’s a question I love answering! Right now, my absolute favorite piece in my collection is this quirky little steampunk dragon I picked up from a local artisan market last spring. It’s not huge—maybe about the size of my hand—but every time I look at it, it feels alive. The sculptor used recycled brass gears, tiny springs, and old clock parts to shape its body. The wings are made from delicate, rusted wire that looks like ancient metal lace, and its eyes are two tiny blue glass beads that catch the afternoon light perfectly.
What I adore most is the story it carries. The artist told me each gear came from a broken pocket watch he saved from a flea market in Prague. So, this dragon isn’t just a sculpture; it’s a little archive of forgotten timepieces. It sits on my desk now, next to my laptop, and every time I feel stuck or stressed, I just trace my finger over its spiky brass spine. It reminds me that broken things can be reborn into something beautiful. I think that’s why it’s my favorite—it’s not perfectly polished, it’s wonderfully imperfect, and it holds so much heart.
